The Bear Necessities

The Bear Necessities, Brown University's only all-male, "all-suspendered" a cappella group, have been wowing audiences with their devotion to musicality, energetic performances and innate ability to make suspenders sexy since 1992. The Bears live to perform, making audience participation, group choreography and incredible spectacle a regular part of their performances. Through various Spring Break tours, the Bears have amazed audiences from Cranston to Korea, Harvard Square to Picadilly Square and Thayer Street to Bourbon Street. In the last year, The Bear Necessities have been honored with two a cappella compilation CD selections including "White Shadows" (Teaches of Peaches) on VoicesOnly 2009 and "I'll Make a Man Out of You" (in production) on Ripple Effect, a charity album funding fresh-water wells in central Africa.

Teaches of Peaches (2009) is The Bear Necessities's 5th album since their creation in 1992. A compilation of four years of recording, this album includes the three of four most popular songs from each year of the Bears! From Disney to Dave Matthews, Queen to Stevie Wonder, we off a diverse selection of songs and as always, a karaoke version of one song (called Bear-a-oke), so the listener can sing along too! Featuring such crowd pleasers as "Circle of Life" from The Lion King, "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "It's Raining Men," this album is sure to satisfy! The second track, "White Shadows," has been selected for Voices Only 2009: The Best of College A Cappella!
