Octopodes

octopodes

The Octopodes are a co-ed pop/rock group at Johns Hopkins University. The oldest a cappella group on campus, they have impressed audiences for two decades with balls-y performances full of energy, 'tude, and spunk. The group performs across the nation, regularly touring up and down the east coast and participating in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. The Octopodes were at the forefront of self-recorded and produced collegiate a cappella recordings, and received national recognition with back to back appearances on the Best of Collegiate A Cappella in 2004 and 2005.

Blackout embodies the hard work, fun, and growth of the Octopodes over the past four years. Featuring covers of popular artists including Incubus, Christina Aguilera, and Sarah McLachlan, the album is an exciting collection of intense rock, energetic pop, and moments of tenderness. Like their previous award-winning album Shot of Blue, all tracks were self-recorded in closets around the world (DC, Baltimore, Tokyo), and features creative arrangement, powerful soloists, and an in-your-face group sound.
